1. CLEANSE

In fact – double cleanse (especially in the evening). It is not a step to be rushed! Try to avoid soap-based formulas that strip the skin of moisture. Cleansing removes makeup and daily buildup, preparing your skin for exfoliation.

2. EXFOLIATE

2-3 times a week with the right products. Large and too harsh grains in the scrubs can damage healthy cells. An exfoliant should have soft beads that effectively remove the dead buildup without causing harm. If your skin is too sensitive for scrubs look for exfoliants with Alpha Hydroxy Acid or even exfoliants with fruit enzymes as they are gentler and do a better job of dissolving dead skin cells without irritating or damaging the skin.

3. MOISTURISE

Once your skin is primed and prepped for moisture (after cleansing and exfoliation), it’s important to use a moisturizer that isn’t too heavy or thick but provides superior hydration down to the deeper layers of the skin. Use moisturisers that are non-comedogenic and contain hydrating ingredients. If your skin is really dehydrated, consider adding a serum with ingredients like hyaluronic acid and sodium hyaluronate for extra hydration.

4. DIETARY CHANGES

What we eat can significantly affect the health and ageing of our skin. Avoid processed food and limit your refined sugar intake- it can promote acne by elevating blood sugar levels, resulting in a cascade of hormonal effects, including increased androgens (acne-causing hormones), excess oil and increased cell production, all of which lead to clogged pores and breakouts.

5. UP YOUR WATER INTAKE

Your skin is an organ, in fact, it’s the largest organ in your body, and it’s mostly made up of water. Without water, your skin can’t function at its best. If your skin doesn’t get enough water, not only will it become dry, tight, and flaky, but it will also become even more prone to ageing…..no one wants that!!! Common signs of dehydrated skin include redness, congestion and inflammation. Many people often report that by increasing their water intake, their skin has a more radiant glow…… it’s as easy as a few extra glasses of water to make a big difference.

6. PROFESSIONAL TREATMENTS AND EXTRACTION

Professional treatments that unclog congested skin such as Total Cleanse and Microdermabrasion facials can be done faster at the salon with the help of professionals! Don’t pick at your skin or attempt extractions on your own because that introduces more dirt and bacteria to inflamed skin. The darker your skin tone the more prone you are to pigmentation/ hyperpigmentation….. so don’t pick those spots, leave it to the professionals!

And please don’t forget, if you need help with your skincare our in-house skin specialists Shrina, Shaili and Ashru offer FREE 1-1 in Clinic or Video Consultations! During these appointments, you can discuss your skincare routine, any products that might help, and future treatments!
